'The Cure is Coming!' began in 2004 when participants walked from Lexington to Revere, MA,
to raise money and awareness for the fight against ALS. The event has since morphed into
a walk that loops around historic Lexington, and in 2008, the road race component was
added. With an afternoon of family entertainment, music, prizes and participation from
several local restaurants, the event has really taken hold in the community. In 2011,
over 500 people came to participate and the event raised over $60,000.
The 2012 'The Cure is Coming!' will be held at the Lexington Visitor Center in Lexington,
MA. Registration opens at 9am. Walkers and wheelchair riders depart at 11:00am and head
southeast, passing the Lexington Battle Green and through historic Lexington Center. The
5K road race starts at 11:30am and features a challenging and scenic course through the
hillier section to the northwest.

Our Start/Finish Line at the Lexington Visitor Center on Mass Ave. offers participants
breakfast, lunch from local restaurants, and family activities. When folks are not out on
the course they can enjoy food, snacks and entertainment throughout the day.
All funds raised by 'The Cure is Coming!' benefit the ALS Therapy Development Institute.
The mission of ALS TDI is to develop effective therapeutics to stop ALS as soon as
possible. Focused on meeting this urgent unmet medical need, ALS TDI executes a robust
discovery program, as well as a multi-pronged approach to validate potential therapeutics;
including small molecules, protein biologics, gene therapies and cell-based constructs.
